I'm professional script writer based in Lobethal, South Australia. Over the years I’ve trekked to many places and had a number of different occupations most of them involving writing because that’s what I enjoy and do well.

About 9 years ago I started my own business and contract out to companies who need a script writer. My largest and longest running contract is with the ABC. Sixty percent of my workload is now working for the ABC and the rest of my work hours are spent writing and editing for smaller local production companies and some overseas companies.
As a young adult I had returned to my home country, the UK, and after writing almost anything for almost anyone landed a job with the BBC as a script writer. I was eventually promoted to script editor; doing such things as finding new script writers, developing storylines and ideas for series with other writers and making sure that scripts are ready and suitable for production.
In case you’re wondering what a script writer does well, we do a lot of what I’ve just mentioned above but we are really just good storytellers and have wild imaginations. I’ve found that if you want something to appear real to people it needs to be a bit unpredictable – because that’s what real life is like. I’m rarely involved during the actual filming of any productions, and it would only then be as an advisor. By the time you get to see any of my past work, I’ve gone on already to write scripts for multiple more productions.
My work has exposed me to all sorts of people and given me both the chance and the necessity to investigate so many different aspects of life that I wouldn’t normally even think about: from peat fires to period furniture to the history of politics in Australia. I think that’s why my interests are so varied.
